Privacy Policy
Effective June 1, 2026. This Privacy Policy explains how GutLens ("we", "us") collects, uses, and protects your information when you use GutLens (the "Service"). We designed GutLens to collect the minimum data needed to give you personalized gut-health insights.1. Information You Provide
Account data: email address, display name, and authentication identifiers (e.g., Apple ID or Google ID if you choose social sign-in).Onboarding data: age range, height, weight, dietary preferences, gut conditions (such as IBS, IBD, lactose intolerance, GERD, celiac, SIBO), goals, and meal-time preferences.Health & wellness logs: meal photos, barcode and food-label photos, typed food searches, portion sizes, recipes you upload, symptom check-ins (bloating, stress, gut movement), and timestamps.Subscription data: a user identifier shared with RevenueCat to verify your subscription status. Apple processes the actual payment; we do not see your full payment-card information.2. Information Collected Automatically
Device & diagnostic data: device type, operating system version, app version, crash logs, and basic performance metrics.Usage data: which features you use and when (for example, scans completed, notifications opened). We use this to improve the Service.If you enable analytics, we may use Google Analytics (GA4). You can disable analytics in iOS Settings or by contacting us.3. Notifications & Permissions
Camera & photo library: required to take or choose photos of meals, product barcodes, and food labels. Photos are sent to our AI providers for analysis and stored in your account history. You can also search foods by name without a photo.Notifications: with your permission, we send meal-time reminders, post-meal symptom check-ins, and an evening gut-movement reminder. You can turn notifications off at any time in iOS Settings.Apple Health (optional): if you connect Apple Health, the app reads only the categories you authorize (e.g., weight, steps, sleep). Apple Health data stays on your device unless you explicitly choose to sync it.4. How We Use Your Information
To provide the Service: identify food in photos, generate personalized trigger maps, surface trends, and recommend gut-friendly recipes and ingredient swaps.To send notifications you've opted into.To verify your subscription and entitlements.To improve the Service, debug issues, and prevent abuse.To comply with legal obligations.5. AI Processing
Meal photos, barcode and food-label photos, typed food searches, portion sizes, recipes, and selected log data are sent to our AI providers (currently Google Gemini and OpenAI, accessed via the Lovable AI Gateway) to generate insights. We instruct providers to process the data only to fulfill our request and not to use it to train their general models. We do not send your account email or payment information to AI providers.6. Service Providers (Sub-processors)
Lovable Cloud (built on Supabase, hosted by AWS) — secure backend, database, file storage, and authentication.RevenueCat — subscription management and entitlement verification.Apple — App Store distribution, In-App Purchase, push notifications, and (optionally) Sign in with Apple.Google Gemini & OpenAI — AI inference for meal/recipe analysis and gut-pattern insights.Google Analytics (optional) — anonymized usage analytics.Each provider is contractually required to protect your data and process it only on our instructions.7. Sharing of Information
We do not sell your personal information. We do not share your personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. We share information only with the service providers above, when required by law, or with your explicit consent.8. Data Retention
We keep your account and log data for as long as your account is active. You can delete individual logs in the app, or delete your entire account from Profile → Data & privacy → Delete account. After deletion, we remove your personal data from production systems within 30 days; backups containing the data are purged on a rolling 90-day schedule.9. Your Rights
Depending on where you live (e.g., EEA/UK under GDPR, California under CCPA/CPRA), you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal information, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to withdraw consent. You can exercise most of these rights directly in the app, or by emailing [email protected]. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data-protection authority.10. Children
The Service is not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.11. International Transfers
Your information may be processed in countries other than where you live, including the United States. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards (such as Standard Contractual Clauses) for international transfers.12. Security
We use industry-standard safeguards including encryption in transit (TLS) and at rest, role-based access controls, and database row-level security. No method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure, however, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.13. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you in the app or by email and update the effective date above.14. Contact
